WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO COME ON REMOTE YEAR?

Opportunity presented itself and it seemed like a great chance to see the world while maintaining my career and working.

DESCRIBE YOUR REMOTE YEAR EXPERIENCE IN 3 WORDS.

Exhilarating. Exhausting. Eye-Opening.

WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON FOR THE YEAR?

Helping our clients learn & configure our Higher Logic's Online Community Platform

HOW DID YOU FIND YOURSELF A REMOTE ROLE?

I was working 1-2 days a week from my apartment in Washington, DC so I partially had one.  I presented the opportunity to my company and they were open to the idea and they are big on keeping employees happy and adapting to new workspace "trends".    They are a great company!

WHERE HAVE YOU LIVED/TRAVELED TO PREVIOUSLY?

Kenya, Ireland, Brazil, Jamaica, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Bahamas

WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TO OTHERS LOOKING TO BRING TRAVEL INTO THEIR LIVES?

Do it!! Traveling is the best way to gain a new perspective on how different cultures live & work. It is an eye opening experience which makes you truly appreciate both what you have back at home and what you may or may not be missing out on in life in general. There are too many new places, experiences, and sites to see that many folks will never get to witness.

WHO DO YOU HOPE TO BE BY THE END OF REMOTE YEAR?

An even more well-rounded person than I am now with newfound cultural experiences to apply to everyday life and the ability to connect anyone around me.

WHERE DOES YOUR PASSION FOR TRAVEL COME FROM?

Ireland was my first big country (outside of Caribbean Islands) and I fell in love immediately with the charming locals and landscape. Ever since then I wanted to travel/experience the world as much as possible. Too many people miss out or choose to not travel and ultimately they miss out on such a life enriching experience.

HOW DO YOU THINK TRAVELING WILL AFFECT YOUR CURRENT WORK?

Not too much has changed except that I can't "hover" behind colleagues desk anymore when I am waiting on email response.

YOUR FAVORITE DIGITAL NOMAD HACK?

I can't give away all the secrets (but I can tell you most wifi passwords abroad are store names or 123456789) ;)

IF YOU HAD TO BE STUCK ON AN ISLAND WITH ANOTHER REMOTE, WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHY?

If you had to be stuck on an island with another remote, who would it be and why?

Kelli Rogers - she can bullshit as well as me and has a knack for finding good hikes and hidden lakes. Oh and I guess she is fun to be around.

WHERE ARE YOU IN 30 YEARS?

Exploring somewhere unknown; Preferably not touristy and somewhere that has a breathtaking view

WHAT IS THE MOST CHALLENGING PART OF BEING A DIGITAL NOMAD?

Establishing a healthy routine in each new location, learning how to balance work & play, and learning when to say "no" to things to prevent burnout. FOMO is real both while traveling and life back at home.

WHAT IS THE BEST PART ABOUT BEING A DIGITAL NOMAD?

Experiencing and seeing new places that others might not ever see.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST PASSIONATE ABOUT?

Tech, Sports, Open Borders, travel-hacks, gadgets, family, smiling

BEST SOLO ADVENTURE.

Hiking the Austrian Alps solo and accidentally venturing into Germany

WHAT DO YOU MISS MOST WHILE BEING ON THE ROAD?

My large crazy family & close friends I left back at home.  & football (like real football NOT futbol).

3 THINGS YOU CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT ON THE ROAD?

Portable battery, iPhone, headphones.
