To better accommodate various work situations, Remote Year offers both 4 month and 12 month professional work and travel programs.
Remote Year offers both 4 month and 12 month programs.
Remotes tell us that the yearlong program is a transformational experience that leaves them with a renewed sense of confidence and empowerment, a familial community of fellow global citizens, and a newfound understanding of global perspective. In short, the yearlong program is an intense, life transforming experience. But, not everybody is ready or able to go out on a year long adventure. That is why we offer the Four Month Program which is a similar incredible experience enriched with personal and professional growth, new relationships, and a broadened perspective, but a better fit for someone who is looking to test or trial this experience or lifestyle, or is better suited by a shorter commitment.
The major difference, next to the length of the program, is what you want to get out of this experience. For those that want to explore several continents, try as many different types of cuisines, really change their ways, explore new passions, and complete personal goals set at the beginning of the program - a 12 month program is most likely the right choice. If somebody wants to explore whether this lifestyle is for them, or really wants to focus on one continent, or are constrained by finances, work or social commitments - then a 4 month program is probably be a better fit. At Remote Year we understand there are people with different backgrounds, wants and needs and we have the right program for each of them.

"When you decide to start traveling in the way I did, it shakes your whole being. (...) Well, that’s Remote Year for you; a year-long voyage that pushes you to your greatest self. (...)The same way nothing could have prepared me for what to expect in starting Remote Year, no one could have anticipated the new challenge in ending it. There is no right way to sum up an entire year of new experiences, new people and new strength. My last year brought about so many life changes and growth of which I am exceptionally proud."
“[Remote Year] was — in a word — transformational. (...) My Remote Year experience slowly shifted my perspective. I was part of something incredible with 50 other adventurers. We were living a thousand lives in a mere 12 months, and we were leaning on each other throughout this epic and unifying journey.”
“I wanted community and travel and productivity. So I joined Remote Year, and had the best year of my life. (...) We developed a reflex of yes. For everything. Which led to an incredible, creative year. (...) That’s what I’ll leave Remote Year with. Excitement for infinite possibilities.”
