Payment Policies V. 2.17

Effective Date: July 25th, 2024

These Payment Policies contain important information about subscribing to Remote Year Membership (sometimes referred to herein as the “Membership”) and participating in a Remote Year Trip (as defined in the Remote Year Participant Terms and Conditions), and/or using the website, applications, or any other services (collectively the “Services”), offered by Selina RY Holding INC. (collectively with its subsidiaries, affiliates, managers, members, successors, employees, agents, representatives, and assigns referred to herein as “Remote Year”). Under the Remote Year Participant Terms and Conditions, which constitute a binding contract between you (“you, “your” or “participant”)  and Remote Year, you are also agreeing to these policies. 

1. GENERAL PAYMENT POLICIES 

1.1 Remote Year Membership

1.1.1 The Remote Year Membership Fee (“Membership Fee”) is payable in full upon application to a Remote Year Membership.

1.1.2 A Remote Year Membership is valid for twelve (12) months from the purchase date (the “Membership Term”). If a Remote Year Membership is offered at no charge, there is no cash or credit alternative, the Membership Term will begin twelve (12) months from the date of the email invite from Remote Year offering you a complimentary one-year Membership.

1.1.3 As of June 29, 2023, there is one fee for Remote Year membership, which offers the same inclusions, access rights and Trip prices for all Members, as standard. For the most up to date summary what is included with Remote Year Membership please see https://www.remoteyear.com/faqs 

1.1.4 Remote Year reserves the right to adjust what is included within Remote Year Membership at any time. No remuneration or credit will be given should any inclusion of Membership be removed or adjusted..

1.2 Cancellation of the Membership 

1.2.1 If a Participant purchases a Membership alongside any other Remote Year Trip, standard cancellation terms will apply per Section 2.3 below, after which standard transfer policy will apply per section 2.3.1.

1.2.2 If a Participant makes a payment for a Membership but does not purchase a Trip within forty-eight (48) hours thereafter, a refund will be made for the Membership Fee. After 48 hours, no Membership fee, or part thereof, will be refunded.

1.3 Changing your Membership 

1.3.1 It is not possible to pause a Membership at any time

1.3.2 A Remote Year Membership is non-transferrable and cannot be transferred to another individual or organization.  

1.4 Renewing your Membership 

1.4.1 Unless received as a gift, or provided to you by Remote Year as a complimentary one-year Membership, Membership subscriptions will be automatically renewed at the end of the Membership Term using the same original payment method, so as to not disrupt service or access to Remote Year services. 

1.4.2 Auto-renewal reminders and related options will be emailed 60 days before the renewal date. 

 1.4.3 You can opt out of auto-renewal any time until the automatic renewal date (twelve (12) months from purchase date), by emailing payments@remoteyear.com By opting out of auto-renewal, you will continue to be able to access Remote Year Services until the end of your Membership Term. 

1.4.4 For Memberships which were gifted by a third party or provided for free by Remote Year, you will be prompted to renew your Membership 60 days before your Membership end date. However, failure to purchase Membership at the end of your Membership Term will result in ceased access to Remote Year Services.  

1.5 A valid Membership must be in effect for a participant to purchase or participate in any Remote Year Trip or Service (including all Marketplace Experiences). For example, if you were to book a Trip, which starts after your current Membership Terms expires, you will need to renew your annual Membership to cover the duration of the Trip, at the appropriate tier, to participate in the Trip.

1.6 Remote Year reserves the right to revoke Remote Year Membership, and access to Services at any time, if the Remote Year Code of Conduct has been breached, or for any other reason as listed in the Remote Year Terms & Conditions Section 3.1. No Membership Fee refund will be provided when a Membership is revoked or terminated due to a violation of the Code of Conduct..

1.7 Any discount or incentives applied to a Membership will be valid for 12 months from time of purchase. 

2. TRIP FEES

2.1 The non-refundable and non-transferable Down Payment. To reserve your space on a Remote Year Trip a Down Payment may be required upon commitment to a specific itinerary and/or Trip. (For the purposes of these Payment Policies, payment for Trips that require full payment upfront shall constitute a “Down Payment”.) The Down Payment cannot be transferred to another person and it cannot be transferred for use towards a different type of Remote Year Trip. Barring the exceptions described in section 2.2 below, the Down Payment is non-refundable, and barring the exceptions described in section 2.3 below the Down Payment cannot be transferred for use towards a different itinerary and/or Trip. The collective name for all Remote Year work and travel products are ‘Trips’. The following are the Remote Year Trips currently offering:

  • Remote Year Adventures: Typically 5 - 14 day excursions, designed for professionals to unplug from work

  • 1 (One) Month Trip (shared / private accommodation optional, and subject to availability): 4 or 5 week long Trips while you work remotely

  • 4 (Four) or 12 (Twelve) Month Trips for traveling while you work remotely

  • Business Trips for Companies: custom made Trips for businesses

2.2 Extreme Situations. In very few certain extreme situations if Remote Year has not incurred irretrievable costs on behalf of the Participant (sunk costs) , Remote Year may waive its strict refund and transfer policies. Waiver of such policies is at Remote Year’s sole discretion. While not an exhaustive list, Extreme Situations would not automatically include company denial, visa / passport issues, change in personal circumstance, illness or injury in relation to a pre-existing condition,  illness from COVID-19, illness or injury to a family member or friend.

2.3 Changes & Transferring Down Payment to be used towards a different itinerary or Trip. All agreed transfers to new Trips, no matter the date of the original booking, must depart within 1-year of your original Trip start date and require an active membership in order to travel, unless approved otherwise in writing by Remote Year. Transfer fees may apply, see below. 

2.3.1  For Remote Year Adventures and  1-month Trip bookings made from July 7, 2022 

2.3.1.1 You may request one change to a different 1-month Trip free of charge by notifying us via email to nation@remoteyear.com  with at least 61 days in advance of the start date of your initially chosen Trip, 

2.3.1.2 Any subsequent changes requested 61 days or more from the 1-month Trip start date will incur a charge of $250 per change, along with any difference in new Trip fee  (if applicable). If the new Trip is less than the original Trip fee, no refund will be offered. 

2.3.1.3 For changes 60 days or less from the 1-month Trip start date, no changes are permitted. 

2.3.2 For 4-month and 12-month Trip bookings made from July 7, 2022 

2.3.2.1 Any changes requested 61 days or more from the Trip start date will incur a charge of $250 per change, along with any difference in Down Payment amount for the new Trip (if applicable). 

2.3.2.2 For changes 60 days or less from the Trip start date, no changes are permitted.

2.4 Remote Year reserves the right to decline transfer requests if space is not available on the Trip/itinerary to which you would like to transfer your Down Payment. You will only be charged the transfer fee if the transfer request is approved.

 2.5 Change Fees will be:

  • Either deducted from the payment balance with Remote Year, if a new Trip is known at the time of change request, along with any difference in Down Payment values

  • Or charged and payable at the time of change, if a new Trip is not known at the time of change request. 

2.6 Travel refunds. During the Trip, no flight or other travel costs incurred by Participants will be reimbursed by Remote Year. Arriving late or leaving a Trip in progress, for any reason whatsoever, will not result in a refund, and no refunds will be made for any unused portions of a Trip. For 4 and 12-month Trip participants, Remote Year does not facilitate travel changes outside of the Transition Options that may be offered, as outlined in Remote Year’s Trip Policies. Neither Remote Year, nor its designated Travel Team members or affiliates, shall be liable for any cancellation penalty charged by an air carrier or other transportation provider, including but not limited to, any air carrier's cancellation penalty related to the purchase of a non-refundable ticket to or from the city a participant is in prior to joining the Trip or the city a participant is going to after leaving the Trip.

2.7 Refundable Cancellations. For bookings made more than 15 days before the Trip start date, you may only cancel your space on a Remote Year Trip within 24 hours after your reservation and we’ll refund your payment in the payment method of your reservation. Cancellations after this period will adhere to the policies in 1.1 through 1.4. If your booking is accepted for a Trip due to start 15 days or less from the booking date, then the 24 hour cancellation period is not applicable, and no refund of payments will be made. 

Refunds are provided only for the reasons listed in these Terms. We will not provide refunds based on a threat of negative reviews or social media posts. We reserve all rights in law and equity to respond to and/or take action against reviews or social media posts that are false, misleading, libelous, harassing, abusive, obscene, vulgar, sexually explicit, or are inappropriate with respect to race, gender, sexuality, ethnicity, or other intrinsic characteristic, or contain confidential information.

The Remote Year Trip is a package. Should an individual choose to not use any portion of the package they paid for, they will not be allowed a refund. This means that if someone chooses to not use the Workspace or Accommodation (if part of the paid package), they will still owe the full amount and will not be subject to a refund. 

3. INVOICES, LATE PAYMENTS, & PAYMENT METHODS 

3.1 Invoices. 

3.1.2. Payments for certain Trips will be auto-charged via third party payment processors. 

3.1.3 For 1-month Trips full payment is required in advance,in full at time of booking. 

3.1.4 For 4 Month and 12 -month Trips , monthly invoices will be sent out via email on the 10th of each month (or the following business day if the 10th falls over a weekend) and due in full by the 20th of the same month. Without cleared payment by the due date, Remote Year reserves the right to deny service provision to the next destination, including flights and accommodation bookings made by Remote Year as part of Trips Fees. See section 3.3

3.1.5 Membership invoices, Down Payment invoices,  travel invoices, monthly fee invoices,  as well as invoices for other additional services provided or facilitated by Remote Year may be sent and due upon commitment to said Service. Remote Year utilizes third party billing platforms, including but not limited to Bill.com and Stripe, to send and track monthly invoices and to facilitate payments. 

3.2 Add on charges. Incidentals and add-on charges (i.e. damages, visitors, events, other optional location specific offerings, etc.) will be invoiced as incurred or added to the next invoice or billed separately.  Add on charges for events will be billed based on commitment to attend. If a participant commits to attending one of these additional events, the participant will be billed the associated event charge regardless of attendance.

3.3 Late Payments. If monthly due payments are not made in full by the twentieth (20th) of the month for the current month’s invoice, unless otherwise agreed in writing by a Remote Year staff, then access to Remote Year platform, including travel, accommodation, co-work space, Remote Year Tech, and any other Remote year Service  may be immediately removed and the participant canceled from the Trip, with no refund due as per Section 2.1 

3.4 Payment Methods.  Remote Year accepts varying methods of payment depending on the specific product offering. Please refer to the product specific payment methods in the relevant section(s) below. Please see Section 4.2 of the Participant Terms and Conditions for more information about the third-parties we use for billing and payment processing.

3.5 Remote Year Credit, Discounts, Promotions and Incentives 3.5.1 Remote Year, at its sole discretion, may offer credit, discounts and/or promotions for certain products or offerings. Any credit, discounts or promotions offered are non-transferable and their advertised timelines are strict. Remote Year reserves the right to deny the usage of discount codes that are not used as instructed. (E.g. If a single participant uses a discount code for couples, Remote Year will not honor that discount code.)

3.5.2 Discounts on products are only valid for the initial agreed term. E.g. Discounted membership would be valid for 12 months, and continuation of membership would be at the full prevailing rate. 

3.5.3 Combined discounts or incentives may not be applied to the same booking, unless at Remote Year’s sole discretion. 

3.5.4 Trips discounted with a Remote Year promotion can be purchased with Remote Year credit, if the credit was acquired from Remote Year deferring a product. 

3.5.5 Credit acquired from a customer canceling their booking cannot be used for towards discounted Trips.  

3.5.6 Remote Year reserves the right to withdraw any participant incentive offers (e.g. Refer-a-Friend) without notice at any time, for any period of time. 

3.5.7 Credit Expiry. Remote Year credit is valid for the term stipulated at issuance, or until the date of expiry on the credit or gift card voucher. If an expiration term is not given at the time of issuance then it is valid for 1 year, provided the participant has an active membership at the time the credit-allocated service is rendered. To use credit for an agreed RY Service outside of your current Membership Term, you will be required to extend (purchase a new Membership Term) in order to cover the dates of the respective service.

3.5.8 Credit Redemption. Credit issued in relation to Trip Fees can be redeemed for any new booking of any Remote Year Service (including Membership, Trip Fees and Marketplace Experiences). Remote Year credits cannot be applied against Trips or services already booked, even if the service has not yet been realized, and/or for Trips or services under promotion or discount. 

3.5.8.1 Credit issued in relation to Experiences bought on the Remote Year Marketplace, can only be redeemed against other Experiences on the Remote Year Marketplace, and may not be used toward any Trip Fees.

3.5.9 Credit Refunds and Transfers. RY Credit cannot be refunded for any reason, at any time. RY Credit cannot be used by, or transferred to, another person. 

4. TRIP FEES 

4.1.1 Trip cost.  The cost to participate in Remote Year’s  Remote Year Adventures, One-Month, Four-Month and Twelve-Month Trips will be listed on the relevant Trip page on Remote Year’s website.

4.1.2 Trip costs are subject to change at any time. Remote Year will, except as provided in Section 6 hereof, honor the prices advertised as of the date of a Participant’s non-transferable and non-refundable Down Payment. In the case that a Trip  decreases in price following the initial payment of said Trip, the Participant will not be entitled to any refunds or reductions in future payments. 

4.2 Payment structure. The costs associated with Remote Year’s One-Month, Four-Month and Twelve-Month Work and Travel Trips shall be split into the following two categories of payments: (i) a non-refundable and non-transferrable Down Payment, as more fully described in sections 4.4 through 4.6 hereof and (ii) the remaining monthly fees, as more fully described in section 4.7 hereof.  Each participant is advised to consult Remote Year’s website for the specific Down Payment and monthly fees associated with a particular Trip. 

4.3 Payment methods. For Remote Year Adventures, One-Month, Four-Month, and Twelve-Month Trips, Remote Year accepts payment from participants in accordance with the following:

  • Wire Transfer

  • Debit card and Credit Cards (excluding American Express)

  • Klarna (excluding 12-month Trips) (see sections 4.8 & 5.5)

4.4. Down Payment 

4.4.1 For bookings made from 29 June 2023: The non-refundable and non-transferable Down Payment(s) due for each Trip are as follows: (i) Twelve (12) Month Trips, $1,000 due at commitment, $2,000 due by the 60th day prior to the Trip’s start date, and $2,000 due by the 30th day prior to the  Trip’s start date, for a total due of $5,000; (ii)  Four (4) Month Trips, $1,000 is due at commitment and $2000 due by the 60th day prior to the Trip’s start date, for a total due of $3,000; and (iii) One (1) Month Trips, full balance due at time of booking, including if Membership and Remote Year accommodation (Private or Shared) is purchased in conjunction with the 1-Month Trip.

4.4.2 For bookings made before 29 June 2023, The non-refundable and non-transferable Down Payment(s) due for each Trip are as follows:

(i) Twelve (12) Month Trips, $1,000 due at commitment, $2,000 due by the 60th day prior to the Trip’s start date, and $2,000 due by the 30th day prior to the  Trip’s start date, for a total due of $5,000;

(ii)  Four (4) Month Trips, $1,000 is due at commitment and $2000 due by the 60th day prior to the Trip’s start date, for a total due of $3,000; and

4.5 Down Payment payment plans. If you need an alternative payment plan, please email us at payments@remoteyear.com as payment plans may be flexible, but full payments are always required by the due date unless otherwise approved.

4.6    1- Month Trips

4.6.1.1 Full Trip cost due in full at time of booking

4.6.1.2 If a Participant purchases a 1-month Trip without Accomodation, and purchases Remote Year Accommodation separately at a later date (subject to availability), the price of the accommodation will be due in full at time of purchase.

4.6.2 Room Share Discount.

4.6.2.1  Couples who purchase a 1-month Trip with shared Remote Year accommodation (ie. Not Private Accommodation) have the option to share a room and receive a 25% reduction off their total payment for that month. In this case, you would both need to purchase a 1-month Trip and Shared Accommodation. If this is something you would like to do please email nation@remoteyear.com so they can generate a custom invoice for you. If two participants wish to begin sharing a room they must either notify Remote Year in writing by including the information in their onboarding survey, or email nation@remoteyear.com at least 45 days prior to arrival to the city in which they wish to begin sharing a room.

4.6.2.2 For Couples who want to purchase a Remote Year Private Accommodation (ie. Not shared with other Remote Year participants), both people in the couple must purchase the 1-month Trip, however, just one person needs to purchase the Private Accommodation.

 4.6.3 For all 1-month Trips  

4.6.3.1 Included in the cost: Access for the month to shared workspace, month long Community and Social Programming and events, Remote Year Local Team, Remote Year Tech

4.6.3.2 Not Included in Cost. Accommodation (unless purchased  at time of booking, or thereafter), flights and/or transportation to initial destination and from final destination; airport transportation at any time; any Marketplace Experiences; Passport, visa, and permit expenses; travel insurance; medical expenses and immunizations; additional expenses incurred due to COVID-19, in relation to the RY COVID-19 Policy or otherwise; personal expenses such as food and beverage (alcoholic or otherwise), laundry, telephone calls, SIM cards, additional activities and events, and any other items not specifically noted as included.

4.7 4-month and 12-month Trips

4.7.1 Monthly Fees. For 4 and 12 Month Trips, a monthly Trip fee is due in advance of each service month. Invoices will be issued on the tenth (10th) of the preceding month, and due by the twentieth (20th) of the preceding month. If payment is not received by the due date, the participant will not be permitted to continue traveling with the 4 and 12 Month Trip.   Participants are advised to consult Remote Year’s website for the specific monthly fees associated with a particular Trip. Monthly fees are not prorated. Each participant is responsible for the full monthly fee upon date of invoice. Please note that the monthly fees advertised on Remote Year’s website do not constitute a guarantee, estimate, or representation of actual costs in any particular city in which a Trip is hosted.

4.7.2 Included in the Cost. Accommodations; transportation from local airport on Trip start day between 9am - 9pm (local time) and transportation to local airport on departure days when taking the RY group flight. shared workspace; some activities and events. 

4.7.3 Not Included in the Cost. Flights to first arrival destination and flights departing from final Trip destination, airport transportation outside other than as specified in 3.7.2 above.  Passport, visa, and permit expenses; travel insurance; medical expenses and immunizations; additional expenses incurred due to COVID-19, in relation to the RY COVID-19 Policy or otherwise; personal expenses such as food and beverage (alcoholic or otherwise), laundry, telephone calls, SIM cards, additional activities and events, and any other items not specifically noted as included.

4.7.4 Room Share Discount. Couples have the option to share a room and receive a 25% reduction in the monthly fee. The Down Payment is not discounted if a room is shared. If two participants wish to begin sharing a room as a couple they must notify their Community  Leader in writing at least 45 days prior to transitioning to the city in which they wish to begin sharing a room.

4.7.5 Opting out. For 4 and 12 Month Trips only, in a situation where a participant is going to miss an entire city, (except in the case of extreme situations as set forth in Section 1.2), the bill for that month will be reduced to $250 if notice is provided by the participant to Remote Year at least 60 days prior to transition to that city. With less than 60 days’ notice, no reduction in fee will be granted. Notice must be received in writing by a Community Leader and emailed directly to Nation@remoteyear.com. This can only be used once for every 4 months traveled. That means a participant can use it once during a 4-month Trip or 3 times during a 12-month Trip. Travel will not be included to and from the respective month of opt-out (this includes both travel credits and transition trips). 

There is no couples’ discount for months opted out as accommodation cost savings are not realized when one or both members of a couple are opted out.

During their  month away from the 4 and 12 Month Trip , the participant will  lose access to any RY Services for that month, including Remote Year accommodations, workspace, private events in any Remote Year locations, and any flights to/from the city they have opted out of . The participant will retain access to their community and the RY Nation Hub or other digital services and platforms, WhatsApp groups, Positive Impact initiatives, and public events. 

4.7.6 Notice of early departure. The Down Payment is non-refundable and non-transferable in all instances. Should a participant decide to leave the Trip early, the participant acknowledges that in so doing, they will forfeit the full Down Payment.

Advanced planning is required for Remote Year to be able to provide all participants with a great experience in terms of transition logistics, accommodation allocation, and execution of events. Should a participant decide to leave a 4 month or 12 month Trip early, they must notify their Community Leader by the 10th day of the month prior to which they intend to leave the Trip and email directly to nation@remoteyear.com So for example, if a participant would like their last month of Remote Year to be March, they would need to inform their Community Leader by the 10th of March that they will not be continuing in April. If notice of departure is not provided by the 10th day of the prior month in which the participant intends to leave, the participant will be invoiced and liable for the following month’s fees regardless of attendance.

As stated above, monthly fees are not prorated. Each participant is responsible for the full fee due upon the date of invoice. The participant will not be required to make additional payments for the remaining months left in the Trip, however, all unpaid invoices or incidentals incurred prior to the early departure will still be due as well as a $1,000 cancellation fee. Though not guaranteed, this cancellation fee may be slightly reduced if notice of departure is given multiple months in advance

4.8 Klarna Payment Method

4.8.1 Klarna is a third-party company which offers customers financing options of Remote Year services, subject to eligibility, including nationality, (currently limited to those who are registered in the US) for Remote Year Adventures, 1-month Trips and 4-month Trips. Klarna is not currently offered as a payment method for 12-month Trips or RY Marketplace purchases. By paying with Klarna, you are agreeing to their finance terms, for which Remote Year has no involvement or responsibility.  For more details about Klarna, along with their full terms and conditions, please refer to the Klarna website. https://www.klarna.com/

4.8.2 In addition, when Klarna is used as the payment method, Remote Year’s Terms and Conditions, including cancellation terms and payment policies still apply, which take precedence. 

4.8.3 For 4-month Trips, if a Participant applies to Klarna for financing and is approved, Klarna will pay Remote Year the full cost of the Trip at time of booking. The Participant will not receive subsequent Down Payment or Monthly invoices from Remote Year as per section 4.7.1 

4.8.4 Should a Participant pay via Klarna for a 4-month and wish to postpone or cancel their booking with Remote Year, please refer to section 5.5

5. REMOTE YEAR CANCELLATION OF A TRIP

5.1 Cancellations: Prior to Departure. Remote Year reserves the right to cancel any Trip that has not yet departed due to  inadequate enrollment or any other reason that makes the Trip economically infeasible to operate or because of good-faith concerns with respect to the safety, health, or welfare of the participants. If a Trip is canceled prior to departure, Remote Year will provide participants with a full refund of monies paid to Remote Year; except in the event that the cancellation is due to a significant event that makes it infeasible to operate the Trip as planned, in which case Remote Year will only provide a refund of all monies paid in excess of the stated Down Payment amount for that Trip, and, at Remote Year’s option, provide participants with a refund and/or credit toward a future Remote Year equivalent to any remaining monies paid to Remote Year. Any credit will be valid for twelve months from the date of issue. Remote Year has no responsibility for any expenses, including any non-refundable expenses, incurred by participants in preparing for a canceled Trip or for any additional arrangements should participants embark prior to the scheduled group departure date.

5.2 Cancellations: In Progress. Remote Year also reserves the right to cancel any Trip in progress because of good-faith concerns with respect to the safety, health, or welfare of the participants. If Remote Year cancels a Trip in progress, participants will receive a prorated refund of their Down Payment and any prepaid months. All other monthly fees paid prior to the month of cancellation will not be refunded. Except as outlined above when Remote Year cancels a Trip in progress, Remote Year has no responsibility for any expenses, including any non-refundable expenses incurred by participants in preparing for a canceled Trip or for any additional arrangements should participants embark prior to the scheduled group departure date, or for arrangements made after the Trip end date

5.3 Trip Delays. Remote Year also reserves the right to delay the commencement of a Trip for reasons including, but not limited, to travel and/or quarantine restrictions, health and safety concerns, the closure of hotels, restaurants and other businesses due to lockdown restrictions and other similar events.  In such an event, Remote Year shall contact Trip participants regarding the alternative launch dates.

5.4 Trip Interruptions. Under certain circumstances, Remote Year may need to interrupt a current Trip due to travel and/or quarantine restrictions, health and safety concerns, the closure of hotels, restaurants and other businesses due to lockdown restrictions and other similar events.  In such event, while Remote Year will use reasonable efforts to mitigate the impact of such an interruption, you will be responsible for all additional costs associated with the interruption, including, without limitation, any additional travel, accommodation and food and beverage costs although you may be able to seek reimbursement for some of these costs from any travel insurance policies you may have obtained.

5.5 Cancellation if Klarna has been used as the payment method

5.5.1  For 1-month Trips and Remote Year Adventure, standard Remote Year policies applied. See 5.1 and 5.2.  5.5.2. For 4-month Trips

5.5.2.1 Within 24 hours of booking, provided 15 or more days from Trip start date then full refund.

5.5.2.2 Within 24 hours of booking and 15 days or less than Trip start date, no cash refund and credit offered for the value of months 2 - 4 only. Credit value to be determined at the time of transfer based on incurred costs to Remote Year at that time.

5.5.2.3  More than 24 hours from booking but more than 60 days from Trip start date, no cash refund, full credit offered to transfer to another RY 4-month Trip, 1-month Trip or RY Adventure. If any difference in value: 

  • If new purchase is more than value paid via Klarna, then customer will need to pay the difference themselves at time of transfer

  • If the new purchase is less than the value paid via Klarna, then the customer will be issued credit from RY to use toward future purchases and / or RY Marketplace experiences. No cash refund. 

5.5.2.4 More than 24 hours from booking and 60 days or less from Trip start date, no cash refund and credit offered for the value of months 2 - 4 only. Credit value to be determined at the time of transfer based on incurred costs to Remote Year at that time.

5.5.2.5 After Trip start date. No refunds or credit, partial or otherwise at standard. Partial credit may be offered at Remote Year’s discretion, for any months not traveled.

6. CHANGES IN FEES

6.1 Remote Year will endeavor to keep Trip fees consistent for the duration of a Trip. However, market factors may require Remote Year to change the cost of its products from time to time. As such, Remote Year reserves the right to increase the monthly fees for its Four Month Trips, and Twelve Month Trips at any time. Customers shall be provided with at least sixty (60) days notice of any such increase, and potential increases shall not exceed 5% of the stated price upon initial Down Payment.

7. LOYALTY STATUS

7.1 Starting from 1st July 2023, a Loyalty Incentive will be in place for all Members. The Loyalty Incentive is based on the months a Member spends on a Trip(s) within a trailing 24 month period, starting from July 2023. . The discount available will be divided into qualifying ‘Tiers’. The discount available can be applied toward future Trip bookings, up to a current limit of $100 per Trip booking. 

7.2 The purchase of other Services, events or experiences organized by Remote Year will not contribute towards a Member’s Loyalty Tier, nor will Loyalty Incentive discount be applied to other Services, events or experiences. 

7.3 If a Member qualifies for a Loyalty Incentive, details of their ‘Tier’ will be displayed on said  Member’s Remote Year Dashboard (www.dashboard.remoteyear.com

7.4 The terms of the Loyalty Incentive, and available discounts, are solely at Remote Year’s discretion, and may be altered or revoked at any time, without remuneration to any Member.
