Named after Shangri-La, a term that describes a beautiful and remote place where life approaches perfections, this program will have you embark on a journey of personal and professional discovery and growth, to countries just as beautiful and imaginative as Shangri-La.
On our Cruz Learn & Travel program, you will enhance your Spanish skills while also having the time to pursue professional goals and explore Latin America.
To ensure an optimized learning experience, you will be placed with fellow learners according to your level, and you will be able to customize the level of fluency you would like to commit to.

You’ll start your journey in Hanoi, Vietnam, a bustling capital that mixes modern and ancient traditions with tantalizing cuisines, beautiful countrysides, and the chance to see Ha Long Bay during the best time of year.
You’ll then continue to Chiang Mai, Thailand, a digital nomad hub that will help you recharge as you cafe-hop, dine on mouth-watering food, and enjoy breathtaking mountains that are just minutes away.
You’ll then head to Bali, Indonesia, a city full of restorative energy, beautiful beaches, temples, and rice fields that never end.
Finally, you’ll finish your journey in Osaka, Japan, a laidback city known for its castles, parks, and the best beef dishes you’ll ever have to cap off this once-in-a-lifetime experience!
You will be staying in comfortable private bedrooms in a mix of 2-3 bedroom apartments or houses as well as hotels. You will be in amazing neighbourhoods with a mix of a local and international flavor within walking distance from the workspace. You’ll love the great location, trendy atmosphere, and access to so much to do all around you. There may be options to upgrade to a private apartment after booking.
You are responsible for your flight to the Remote Year destination city and your flight out from the destination. You are also responsible for all visas and travel insurance needed. Meals are also not included.
Program sizes always vary, but we usually have between 25-40 people on each program.
Significant Other: Yes, we’d love to have your significant other sign up for the program too! If you are sharing a bedroom, you will both receive 20% off each monthly fee. After you pay your down payment, just send us a message here and we’ll send you discounted invoices,
Pets: We are not able to support pets on programs currently, but we are going to do our best to continue exploring this option and will update you in the future if it becomes viable.
The full policy around visitors in Remote Year accommodations varies per destination, accommodation, and the preferences of your roommate(s) (if you have one or more). The comfort and space for your visitor will vary greatly by accommodation, so it will be up to you to determine if your living space is sufficient for your visitor. Visitors must be approved by the Program Leader and roommates. When they can be accommodated, visitors can stay in Remote Year accommodations for a maximum of 3 nights of any single month.
We will be doing pickups from the airport of your first destination at a few scheduled windows on launch day. We will share exact times during the onboarding process, but expect the window to be around 10am - 4pm.
Yes, after booking, you’ll receive an Onboarding survey to indicate your living preferences, food restrictions, and allergies.
Yes, you will always have wifi and workspace access.
We have access to local doctors, local health resources, and health services in close proximity.
