2020 Review

Similar to many companies, 2020 was truly a tough year for Remote Year. In March 2020, we had to pause and postpone our programs due to COVID-19. As a small business in the travel industry during COVID, the odds were stacked against us to survive.

Despite the challenges, we successfully closed out the year with an acquisition by Selina, a partner that completely shares our vision and mission. We could not be more excited to be a part of this incredible organization. Moving forward, Remote Year will continue to operate independently and offer the life-changing work & travel programs we always have.

2021 Preview

As we begin this new year, our renewed mission is to be the most trusted platform for remote working and learning globally.

Today we are announcing our first programs since the start of the pandemic. We have shorter programs of 1 week to 1 month available today, and plan to offer our legacy 4 and 12 month programs later in the year.

In addition to original Work & Travel programs, we will introduce two new products... Retreats: 1-2  week programs that allow travelers to get away for a week to an inspiring setting to renew, relax, and reset and an exciting range of Learn & Travel programs for skills and professional development.

We take safety seriously and have invested in additional health and safety measures, services, and policies for all of our programs.

Our Team

Finally, to kick off the new year, we are thrilled to announce our new CEO, Shaun Prime. Sam Pessin, one of our Co-Founders, will take on the role of President, overseeing growth for the team.

“As my journey has progressed with Remote Year, I have become even more excited by the potential we have to build incredible life-changing experiences for a generation that is eager to be part of a community and live with freedom in their hearts. We exist to help them make this a reality, stay productive, and continue growing while exploring the world.” - Shaun Prime, CEO
